Visual System

Our visual system is based on Virtual Reality (VR) and promises highest possible immersion. It consists of a VR headset and its respective controllers for accurate positioning.

Virtual Reality offers a natural stereoscopic panoramic view by simply rotating your head. As you know it from the real world, you dynamically view the virtual world from individual angles. This opens up a range of new possibilities, especially for HESLO training.

Compared to other visual systems, VR requires virtually no dimensional footprint, since no large-sized domes, mirrors, projectors or screens are required. This conveniently eliminates concerns about edge blending/overlapping, distortion, elaborate calibration or costly, tremendous computing power.

Our visual system is very easy to use and excels with photorealistic sceneries, responsive reaction, a high-resolution virtual cockpit and an animated avatar.

 

VR Cockpit

The Virtual Reality Cockpit is integrated on the Motion Platform and consists of a pilot seat, belts and flight controls that the pilot would use in a real aircraft. Vibration cueing enhances the realism.

Optionally, our Human Pose Tracking Technology gives you the ultimate impression of a real cockpit experience. The ingenious combination of the replicated cockpit with its operable elements and the corresponding animated avatar lets you forget that you are in a virtual world.

Motion Platform

Our highly dynamic 6DOF (6 degrees of freedom) motion platform performs motion cueing based on a human perception model that is supplied with motion data directly from the simulation.

It runs completely electrically (no hydraulic systems), is safe by design and features high performance and a quick response time.

A specially developed technology prevents motion sickness so that virtual pilots will experience the immersion to the fullest.

 

Flight Simulation

The flight simulation software features advanced flight dynamics thanks to realistic flight physics and realtime full multibody simulation.

Fastest frame rates ensure undisturbed flights and optimum immersion into the virtual world. A photorealistic graphics engine enabled excellent fully animated flight instruments, precise 3D cockpits and razor-sharp high-resolution textures that depict detailed cities with 3D buildings and bridges.

SDK (Software Development Kit) tools can be used to optionally develop and integrate custom landscapes, airports and aircrafts.

Control Loading System

The control load system features force feedback in realtime. The servo-driven solution is fed directly with data from the flight simulation software.

Due to its powerful and dynamic design, aerodynamic control pressures are simulated very realistically, so that hydraulic failure simulation and dual control simulation (virtual instructor) are possible.

Instructor Operating Station

The IOS offers instructor controls to reposition the simulator to any desired situation, set time of day and weather conditions.

In addition, the instructor can the simulator’s operational or home state, activate the platform or trigger an emergency stop of the entire system.

 

Sound System

Calibrated headphones integrated into the VR headset are used for rotorcraft sounds. A microphone is available for communication with the instructor.

Safety Enclosure

Due to dynamic motion of the VRM Training Solution, the Safety Enclosure prevents unintended entry into hazard zones and allows the personnel to fully focus on the training tasks at hand, while operating in a safe environment.

Products

The trainer simulates a Robinson R22 helicopter including steering forces. The cockpit is functional and all the required operating elements are available. The simulator is used to learn all basic elements and to train emergency procedures. It is suitable for student pilots up to experienced pilots.

The trainer H125 enables trainings on a single turbine helicopter. From the familiarisation to a turbine helicopter to demanding scenario-based trainings, mountain flying and emergency trainings, simulation is tailored o the needs of the trainee. The cockpit is functional and the controls have force feedback to simulate hydraulic system failures or other effects which result in a change of control forces.

This solution is developed together with the kopter group. It will be a fully functional simulation of kopter’s SH09 single engine helicopter.

This training solution allows to learn the basics of the sling load operation with mirror and vertical reference technique. Different rope lengths and loads are available. In a junior pilot program, a pilot can be brought up to a professional level, enabling him to handle complex and demanding missions on a simulator and later in a real helicopter. The cockpit of this variant is not operative and the controls have no feedback forces. The HESLO module can be added to the VRM H125 Trainer.
